This created a test file that had basically identical metadata to the original, including the HDR-compatible tag. I also edited L(10000000,50) to match the source. I had to set "range=limited" to match the source, and I removed "max-cll=12345,678" because this line actually added metadata that didn't exist in the raw file. If you're curious, and for anyone in the future looking for a concrete example, the exact syntax I used was: ffmpeg -i "raw-movie-input.mkv" ` So I've been tinkering with those settings and creating a few test files, and I think I've got something solid.
